PROPERTY TRANSFER

Changing the ownership of a property? We can help make the process straightforward.

Not every change in property ownership involves a traditional sale or purchase. You may need to add or remove someone from the title, transfer property between family members, or change the way a property is owned.

We’ll explain what’s involved, prepare the necessary documents and guide you through the transfer from start to finish.

When Might You Need a Property Transfer?

There are many reasons why the ownership of a property may need to change without the property being sold in the usual way.

We can assist with transfers such as:

  • Adding or removing a spouse or partner from the title

  • Transfers following a separation or divorce

  • Transfers between family members

  • Changing ownership shares between existing owners

  • Transferring property following an agreement or court order

  • Other changes to the registered ownership of a property

What's involved in a Property Transfer?

What’s Involved in a Property Transfer?

Every transfer is a little different, but generally we’ll:

  • Check the current ownership and what you want to change

  • Prepare the documents required for the transfer

  • Work with your lender or broker if there is a mortgage

  • Deal with Revenue NSW and any transfer duty requirements

  • Arrange the electronic transfer through PEXA

Some transfers can have stamp duty, capital gains tax or lending implications. We’ll explain the conveyancing requirements and let you know if you should obtain advice from your accountant, financial adviser or lender before proceeding.
